First United Methodist Church is having a Christmas feast — and you’re invited.
The annual Feast of Love will be held at 1 p.m. Christmas Day in the downstairs meeting room. The Christmas banquet is open to everyone at no charge.
College students, seniors, singles and family groups — anyone who has no local family to join for a Christmas dinner, or who would like to be part of a larger family — is welcome. Several groups make the feast their regular Christmas dinner, and often bring out-of-town family or visitors.
The menu features roast turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, peas and beans. Drink choices will include hot cider, coffee and hot and cold tea. There will be plenty of dessert choices, with all kinds of pies, ice cream and cake. In addition to the meal, diners can enjoy holiday music.
The Feast of Love began in 1984 and while it has not occurred consistently since its inception due to a variety of reasons and most recently Covid, the in-person event was held in 2022 and will be held again in 2023.
The church asks anyone who knows in advance they will to attend to call the church office at 410-778-2977, or email email@example.com to help it plan how many to expect.
Anyone who wishes to help prepare or serve the dinner or to make donations to support it should also call the church. Donations will also be accepted at the door. Members of other congregations and the community at large are welcome to join the crew of volunteers and celebrate Christmas by serving others.
First United Methodist Church is located at 105 N. Mill St., between High and Calvert Streets in Chestertown.
